It is believed the Sale Baptist Church began in Wurruk in 1881. The current building on the corner of York St and Macarthur Street in Sale was built in 1901. The church hall (built in 1949) was replaced with the new extensions to the church complex in 1987. Plans are now underway to build a new worship building on the vacant block of land next door.
The church now runs playgroup sessions, youth group, bible studies, prayer meetings in addition to the weekly Sunday services. A Creche service is available for pre-school aged children during Sunday morning services and Sunday School classes are held for school age children.
