Sale Primary School - known locally as "545" - was first established in 1853 but has occupied its current site adjoining historic Victoria Park near the city centre since 1883. The school has continued to grow in recent times drawing pupils from the city itself and from outlying areas including the RAAF Base at East Sale. The school currently has an enrolment of 460 children. East Gippsland Institute of TAFE is an innovative, responsive and flexible Institute which provides a broad range of excellent Vocational Educational and Training (VET)services to its clients in commerce, industry and the community.

East Gippsland Institute of TAFE is the smallest Victorian TAFE Institute yet the region it services covers nearly 15% of the area of the state. It is committed to serving not only the large regional centres of Sale and Bairnsdale, but also the smaller towns and isolated communities scattered across the present Shires of Wellington, East Gippsland and Baw Baw.
